Some recollections from Fred’s brother:

“Fred “Bud” France lived a life dedicated to the appreciation of those who served in battles that helped shape the landscape of the United States. He became an ardent American Revolution and Civil War enthusiast at an early age, frequently drawing battle scenes and making weapons to use in play. Fred’s collection of Civil War era military items started in the 1950’s responding to ads in American Civil War publications. One of his first collectibles was an infantry pendant, and then as a teen, he purchased his first Civil War era rifle-musket.
The drive to acquire more knowledge about the Civil War continued throughout his life. He participated in reenactments and proudly was an extra in the movie “Gettysburg.” He was a student of the weaponry used and grew his library to expand his knowledge. He loved visiting battlefields, American Revolution and Civil War memorials, and gravesites.
We invite you to explore and appreciate this collection, a true representation of Fred France’s lifelong passion.”
